Children's Ministry

Welcome to Desert Hills Children’s Ministry!  We are so glad you are here.  It is such a great blessing to serve families by providing a nurturing place for each and every person. The Children’s Ministry Team wants people of all ages to be able to deepen their relationship with God and each other in an environment that is safe and secure.

Ministry Overview


We serve all children from birth thru 6th grade each weekend at the 8:30 and 10:30am services.  For a more detailed view of our classes, take a look at the Sunday School Ministries page.

Each Household will need to build a profile within our check in system.

Class Locations

Nursery

• Children birth through 30 months are given rooms equipped with developmentally appropriate toys and gear that minister to their specific needs.  Classes will have a low child to adult ratio (1:2 or 1:3) to ensure proper supervision and care is given to the little ones. Each class will have a short lesson introducing a word for their growing vocabulary.  These lessons will take them on a journey through the days of creation using our God of Wonders curriculum.  Email shubbard@deserthillschurch.com for a sample.

Toddlers

• These little ones are changing at such a fast rate and this structured environment provides a way for them to grow in the Lord!  Classes will have a 1:5 ratio as these kiddos still need supervision and guidance even in play time.  The teachers will take them through a simplified Generations of Grace curriculum which cycles the bible in 3 years. This will be repeated throughout the remainder of their time in the children’s ministry.

Preschool through 6th grade

• As the children grow, the ratios will increase as the need for care changes.  Our younger elementary classes have a 1:7 ratio while the older elementary classes have a 1:10 ratio.  These classes are led by passionate teachers who love God’s Word, taking them on a journey through the Bible with the Generations of Grace curriculum.

Children are a gift from the Lord and caring for their safety is our top priority!  All children’s ministry workers pass a background check, complete an abuse awareness training, and participate in a screening interview with our team.  Classrooms are monitored consistently and no child is ever left alone with an adult.
