AWANA Registration Is Open

AWANA registration for the 2020-21 schedule is now available! Sign up today to get your kids registered. Here are some answers to some questions you might have about AWANA:

Is AWANA meeting in person on the DHBC Campus this year?
Yes! We are resuming our regular AWANA ministry this year on campus. AWANA will take place from 6:30-8:00pm every Wednesday night, Lord-willing, beginning on September 9.

Are you taking any safety precautions or requiring masks?
We are requiring temperature checks for all volunteers and participants. We also ask families to stay home if anyone in their household is experiencing symptoms of illness until the entire family has been symptom-free for 48 hours. Masks are optional for those who want to wear them. We will provide masks to anyone who wants one but does not have one with them. For specific safety policies and procedure questions, email the church elders at [email protected].

If I am uncomfortable sending my child to AWANA, can they participate virtually?
Absolutely! While it is not possible to Zoom AWANA due to the nature of the program, we will provide parents the AWANA materials for their children to complete the program at home. We also will make a leader available via Zoom on a regular basis if children want to say their verses to an official AWANA leader rather than to their parents at home. Please let us know if we can help accommodate your health needs in any way during this unusual season. Virtual sign-ups will be available online soon!

How can I get involved as a parent in AWANA?
Parents are encouraged to volunteer. All volunteers must complete a background check, and all teachers are required to be members of Desert Hills. We have many needs for volunteers besides teachers, including administration help, help with games, check-in and registration help, and more. You can sign up as a volunteer when you register your kids.

Are there any fees to participate?
The AWANA books and shirts need to be purchased. If you are in a difficult financial situation, please talk to an AWANA leader so we can provide you a scholarship to help cover some of your AWANA book and/or shirt costs. We don’t want any children to miss out due to inability to pay for materials.

We are so excited to get back on campus for AWANA next month and look forward to welcoming you back to campus as we help kids hide God’s Word in their hearts.
