Our God is so good. When we encounter difficult times, He has given us His Word and His Spirit. He has also given us another immeasurably joyful blessing: singing songs to Him with the people of God.
Throughout the psalms, the psalmist is in dire straits over and over again. Much of this inspired songbook was forged in the fires of trials. The people of God, when hard-pressed, find strength and joy in singing, and singing together.
For example, in Psalm 35:17-18, David sings, “Lord, how long will You look on? Rescue my soul from their ravages, my only life from the lions. I will give You thanks in the great congregation; I will praise You among a mighty throng.”
This Thursday night at 6pm, let’s gather in the worship center as a great congregation, a mighty throng, to sing praises to our Almighty God! We’ll have a night of worship together, pouring out our hearts to our Sovereign King. Invite your friends, families, and neighbors. Let’s shake north Phoenix with our God’s great praise!
Pastor Robb has been the pastor-teacher of DHBC since March 2011. He earned a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree from The Master’s Seminary in Sun Valley, CA, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Pastor Robb and his wife Randi have been married for over twenty years and have four children: two daughters and two sons. They enjoy travel, hiking, baseball, and the beach.
One of Pastor Robb’s favorite verses is 1 Corinthians 1:18: “For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” In addition to preaching weekly, Pastor Robb enjoys hosting the podcast Relentlessly Biblical.
